Natty Boh Duo

Natty Boh FAQs

Q. What style of music do you play?

A.   We can play rock, country, Irish, pop, instrumental and more.  We know a ton of material but we also take requests!

Q. How many pieces do you typically play as & what instruments are they?

A.    Natty Boh is an acoustic duo that features guitar, vocals and mandolin.  The mandolin allows us to put a folky, Americana, bluegrass-y twist on whatever we perform.  We normally play a Porchboard bass with our feet that adds a kick-drum type of effect to the music which fills out the sound and makes our two-piece group sound like much more!

Q. Do you play in other configurations?

A.   A duo is our most common configuration, but we know many local musicians which allows us to add extra personnel if the event calls for it.

Q. Why did you become a professional musician?

A.   We were inspired to become professional musicians for a variety of reasons.  From early ages we’ve always been ridiculously obsessive fans of music of all kinds.  We both came from musical families and both studied music seriously at university.  Mostly we just love the idea of bringing joy to the audiences we are fortunate enough to perform for.

Q. Where are you located?

A.   Natty Boh is based out of the greater Charlotte area.

Q. Do you travel?

A.   Yes, we travel often and have performed all over North America.

Q. Why should an event professional book you/your band?

A.   We are very professional and experienced, having played many types of events from weddings, parties, festivals and on some of the country’s most famous concert stages, and have entertained at many corporate events including the DNC, RNC and NFL. We have a vast repertoire of music including rock, country, folk, bluegrass, pop and Irish/Celtic, and can perform music from the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s to the present.  We can play vocal pieces or play instrumental versions of many favorite songs.

The duo features the mandolin which makes for a uniquely pleasant sound and we also incorporate a Porchboard “foot bass” which is subtle but really adds to the overall effect and makes our duo sound much bigger.  Compliments we receive frequently are our punctuality, ability to read the audience, and play just the right songs at the appropriate volume.  We love taking requests on the fly and we’re always willing to learn specific songs for a particular event.

Q. Do you have the capability of providing your own sound & lights?

A.   Yes, we travel with our own PA that is perfect for small to medium size events/venues.  We also can provide modest lights for events at night.
