Robert Carr FAQs

Q. What style of music do you play?

A.  Smooth Jazz and R&B

Q. How many pieces do you typically play as & what instruments are they?

A.  1 man, live/tracks

Q. Do you play in other configurations?

A.  No, I only play solo

Q. Why did you become a professional musician?

A.  I’ve been in the music business pretty much all of my adult life. I have been a solo R&B/Smooth Jazz keyboardist since the 1990s. I absolutely love performing because feel as though l can learn something new every day in my career. I thrive with crowd participation and in my ability to cater music selections to the crowd.

Q. Where are you located?

A.  I live in Atlanta, but I travel often to areas in North and South Carolina such as Rock Hill, Tega Cay & Charlotte.

Q. Do you travel?

A.  Yes I do

Q. Why should an event professional book your band?

A.  I fit perfectly at any size event. One thing I’ve learned is that volume control is very significant.  Also, because l have played for so long, l try to read the crowd to determine my music selections.  Timing is everything as well. Selection of the right song after a speech/award or dinner music is important.  I always try to ask if there is a certain mood or feel in order to make it a great event.

Q. Do you have the capability of providing your own sound & lights?

A.  I have an excellent sound system, but no lights.
