Alan Kaufman is a classically trained keyboardist in Charlotte, NC. His many years as a professional musician both individually and as an accompanist to other musicians has provided him with a vastly diverse background in music.
Alan Kaufman graduated from New York State University at Potsdam with a B.S. and M.S. Degree in Percussion. Since then, he has been a performer (keyboards & percussion), arranger, producer, educator and composer of commercial jingles, albums and soundtracks. He has produced albums and arranged music for The Buddy Rich Band, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Dan Truhitte (“Sound Of Music”), The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and many more. Alan has performed with/accompanied acts as diverse as: Luciano Pavarotti, Johnny Cash, Bernadette Peters, Bobby Vinton, Clay Aiken, and others. Besides his professional duties, he has been Band Director with the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools since 1993.

Q. What style of music do you play?
A. ALL styles, from the “Great American Songbook” to adult contemporary, all with a ‘jazzy’ flavor.
Q. What instruments do you typically play?
A. All keyboards, including acoustic piano to my own Yamaha Keyboard, accordion, and portable B3 organ.
Q. Do you play in other configurations?
A. I am the leader of my own band, ranging from duos up to an 8-piece Swing band, performing the music of the ‘big bands’.
Q. Why did you become a professional musician?
A. I was born into a musical family, with both of my parents being musicians (and owning a piano and organ store) along with several aunts and uncles!
Q. Where are you located?
A. In West Charlotte, near Belmont. I have handy access to anywhere in the city, being close two interstates.
Q. Do you travel?
A. Yes, although I prefer shorter day trips.
Q. Why should an event professional book you?
A. I feel I am one of the most versatile musicians in the region. I’ve been performing professionally for 60 years and can play any style of music convincingly.
Q. Do you have the capability of providing your own sound & lights?
A. I provide my own amplification, be it for small rooms up to large venues.
