Rudy’s Bluegrass Revue is an eclectic mix of original music from bluegrass, country, classical, folk and blues to familiar melodies of our time.
Rudy Cortese (banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin) is a five-time winner of the Four Corner States Banjo Championships, an Arizona State banjo champion, and a winner of numerous other contests in the Southwest. Now residing in Leicester, NC, he is joined by Elizabeth Kronlage (vocals, tenor guitar, cello) and Chris Carter (upright bass) to deliver an upbeat and positive vibe of music as Rudy’s Bluegrass Revue!

Q. What style of music do you play?
A. Bluegrass, roots, Americana.
Q. How many pieces do you typically play as and what instruments are they?
A. Trio – banjo, mandolin, guitar, tenor guitar, fiddle, cello, upright bass, lead vocal, harmony vocal.
Q. Do you play in other configurations?
A. Full band is a trio, but can be quartet or quintet, can also be solo or duo.
Q. Why did you become a professional musician?
A. I started playing music at the age of twelve and was hooked ever since. Playing for audiences at twelve years old really made me feel like I had purpose. My family, though supportive, were not encouraging. So, music always made me feel like I had a place in this world. I enjoy playing for myself as well; practicing, writing songs, and composing are very fulfilling.

A. Asheville, North Carolina.
Q. Do you travel?
A. Yes, we travel. We would be willing to travel up to four hours away if accommodations are available.

A. We represent the heart of Appalachia and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We deliver an authentic, traditional, and contemporary experience of bluegrass and roots music to our listeners. We are sincere and love what we do. It is about representing the community of the mountains and the stories about the people who have lived there and are still thriving.

A. Yes, we have a Bose system and stage lights.
