Meet Tius, Key Signature’s newest intern. We asked his some questions to give everyone a chance to get to know him:
1. Favorite style of music?
I’m a huge rock & roll and blues fan because of the raw energy, feeling, and honesty about all aspects of life that both genres are loyal to. Every day, the first thing I do in the morning is open Spotify and listen to some of my favorite bands – Guns ‘N Roses, Johnny Winter, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Motley Crüe. These musicians also inspire me to challenge myself as a guitar player.
2. Why the guitar?
My parents sort of made that decision for me. They bought classical guitars as a Christmas gift for my brother and me when we were around ages seven and eight, and later asked if we were interested in taking lessons. I have always been a music fanatic, so the guitar provided me with a creative outlet and a means to relate with some of my favorite musicians.
3. What’s the biggest life lesson you’ve learned since graduating college?
In the few months since moving back home from UNC, I have learned that adult life requires individual action and responsibility. It seems obvious in retrospect, but I don’t have access to the same resources in a one-mile radius that I relied so heavily upon when I was in school. I also learned that there is no cookie-cutter way to do anything, and that there are no handouts. If I want something in life, I have to go out and make it happen. I’m glad I learned that early in the game.
4. What have you learned in your time at Key Signature?
In my time with Key Signature Entertainment, I have learned about the business and marketing side of the music industry. Perhaps most importantly, I have learned about the importance of treating a band like a 
business and how to utilize the key aspects of “what-how-why” when marketing it as such. In other words, what you do, how you do it, and why you do it, and how the “why” aspect plays such an important role in building a strong relationship with your target audience.
5. Where is Tius in 5 years?
In 5 years, Tius is a professional guitar player, ideally in a session position, house band, or an independent band. I have dreamed of working with like-minded people to play great music for a living, and Brandon and Mikayla are teaching me ways to make that become a reality. After all, Good People Good Music is what Key Signature Entertainment is all about!
