Guitar Travels features standards and straight-ahead jazz plus a wide-range of original compositions. They have been performing in the Charlotte region since 2002.
With a wonderful female vocalist who sings in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, Guitar Travels offers a little something different for their live music performances than your typical jazz ensemble.

Q. What style of music do you play?
A. We typically perform jazz standards and a wide-range of pop music – these tend to be classic, straight-ahead jazz tunes, bossanovas and well-known Latin tunes, in addition to many original compositions.As our female vocalist is multi-lingual, she will often perform songs in both English and Spanish, which adds a wonderful dimension to our sound and musical offerings.
Q. How many pieces do you typically play as and what instruments are they?
A. Our trio consists of keyboard, guitar and vocals. All of our instruments are of very high quality and our resultant sound is smooth, tight, sweet, upbeat and soulful.
Q. Do you play in other configurations?
A. Our group is highly flexible and can perform as:
- a solo guitarist
- a guitar and vocal duet
- a guitar and piano duet
- a trio which consists of a keyboard, guitar and vocalist.
As well, we typically adapt our musical offering to our client’s requirements so as to offer musical offerings that are important to our customers.
Q. Why did you become a professional musician?
A. Music has been in all our souls since a very early age. As a guitarist, I (band leader Walt Kuchinski) had my first guitar, (which was plastic!) when I was about five. I began performing at age 11. This is similar for our bandmates. Our keyboard player has taught piano in an educational setting and performed professionally his whole life, and our wonderful female vocalist who, at the tender age of six performed at Carowinds! We love to perform and often take pride in ’giving back’ to the community in the way of donating our time for charitable causes. It’s the love of performing and sharing our talents with others that truly drives us.
Q. Where are you located?
A. We are located in Charlotte, NC.
Q. Do you travel?
A. Travel is no issue for us, within reason of course.We have performed in the North and South Carolina regions to entertain our clients, with a travel range of up to 200 miles or more from Charlotte when and if that makes sense.
