Gypsy Reverie FAQs
Q. What style of music do you play?
A. Gypsy jazz and global cafe music, from Django Reinhardt, to tango, to bossa nova, and klezmer.
Q. How many pieces do you typically play as and what instruments are they?
A. A quartet: violin, two acoustic guitars, and upright bass.
Q. Do you play in other configurations?
A. 2-5 players. Violin, acoustic guitars, upright bass, female vocalist, optional clarinetist.
Q. Why did you become a professional musician?
A. I always loved performing for people when I was young (even for the plumber who would visit the house!). I grew up playing classical and fiddle music but fell in love with gypsy jazz and pursued that in college. Being on stage for an appreciative audience is my happy place – I get to play from the heart and give my all, which is what makes my life fun and meaningful.
Q. Where are you located?
A. Asheville, NC.
Q. Do you travel?
A. Yes.
Q. Why should an event professional book you?
A. Gypsy Reverie brings something your guests haven’t heard at every other event: live gypsy jazz, elegant enough for a ceremony and lively enough to pull people in at cocktail hour. Our ‘Evening In…’ concerts at Battery Park Book Exchange sell out with no advertising, so you know the music is fun and engaging for audiences. We can play acoustic for up to 100 guests, so nobody has to shout over us. We scale from a duo to a quintet, and we answer inquiries fast, so you’re never left waiting on the band.
Q. Do you have the capability of providing your own sound & lights?
A. Yes.
