John Doll is one of the most talented and knowledgeable performers of the classical guitar in the Charlotte area. He has 15+ years of experience as a music instructor at the collegiate level and many more dedicated to classical guitar study.
John Doll holds a Master’s degree in Guitar Performance from East Carolina University, where he also taught undergraduate music courses from 2009-2011. He has 15 years of experience as a private instructor and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at South Piedmont Community College in Monroe, NC.
John has participated in Master Classes with acclaimed guitarists from around the globe, and is an active performer and recording artist with singles available on iTunes and Spotify. He studied improvisation and electric guitar with Dustin Hofsess, developing a personal style influenced by jazz fusion. John became interested in the classical guitar after hearing works by composers such as Agustin Barrios, Jorge Morel, and Antonio Lauro. One of his early classical influences was Charles Vaughn, whom he went on to study with for 10 years. John has also studied guitar and interpretation with Mike Mosley at UNC Charlotte.
