Ken Ford
How often do you hear smooth jazz played on violin? That’s the instrument of choice for standout electric violinist Ken Ford. In 2018, we brought him to Romare Bearden Park for the annual Bearden Birthday Bash and he was nothing short of a hit! Ford has recorded with artists like Bruno Mars, Chaka Khan, and Erykah Badu, and performed for First Lady Michelle Obama. He was a founding member of the DeKalb Youth Pops Orchestra during his classical training, and worked his way to the position of Concert Master in the African American Philharmonic Orchestra in Atlanta.

Michael Manson
In 2019, we had the pleasure of booking and producing a concert with electric bass virtuoso Michael Manson as part of the Freedom Jazz Series. Manson is a regular on the Chicago jazz circuit, and has performed alongside names like Al Jarreau and George Duke. In addition to performing, Manson writes, produces, and arranges music professionally.
